Stories have always captivated me, offering profound insights into myself, others, and the world around us. Through storytelling, we can share information in a way that fosters deep emotional connections. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be involved in both creating stories for others and being a receptive listener to the stories of others.
As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where you, as my client, feel genuinely heard, understood, and valued. I believe that personal growth often requires us to step outside our comfort zones—whether it’s a tentative step or a bold leap. I respect where you are on your journey and how far you’re ready to venture into discomfort.
With over 20 years of experience supporting children, youth, and adults, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice. Before completing my Master of Counselling and transitioning to private practice, I worked as a social worker with various agencies in Alberta and BC. My roles included serving as a school counsellor, working with incarcerated youth, and supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
For the past nine years, I have been in private practice in Squamish. Initially, my focus was on working with children 12 years and under. However, as I’ve grown and my interests have evolved, my practice has shifted. Today, my passion lies in working with youth (ages 10 and up), adults, and parents.
I often incorporate sandtray therapy into my sessions, offering an alternative avenue for clients to express their thoughts and emotions. This method can provide a sense of safety, especially when verbalizing difficult or overwhelming experiences. By creating stories in the sand, clients can explore their emotions in a way that feels secure and manageable.
